What started with two dogs playing in a park became the greatest love story we could have imagined. Four years, countless flights, and one big question later, here we are!
One afternoon at the dog park in our apartment building, our pups, Chidi and Benny, locked eyes, sniffed butts, and became instant besties. They were like each other's shadow. No dog duo has ever bonded faster that day! Naturally, their meet-cute led to our own.
Okay, technically not a real date, more like a group dinner with neighbors (one may say CJ plotted this to get to know Viktor a little more) But somewhere between bites, Viktor casually told CJ she was a "foodie." And CJ, feeling very seen, mentally noted: This one gets it.
We didn't exactly dive into a whirlwind romance right then and there. Life got in the way. But a little while later, Viktor sent CJ a text: "Do you like tacos? Dinner at Old Pueblo?"
Listen. CJ would never say no to tacos, an excuse to dress cute, and hanging out with a handsome dog dad. What was meant to be a casual dinner turned into hours of deep conversation over drinks, sharing each other's life story, and a very reluctant goodbye.
And another. And then, many more after that. They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach — but in our case, it was mutual. Viktor planned sweet date nights. CJ cooked cozy meals at her apartment. We feasted, we laughed, we talked for hours. When we weren’t doing that, we were walking our dogs (Our step counts were outrageous!) The number of miles we walked together easily equated to the slow and steady path we were paving toward forever. Catch feelings and cardio, right?
In 2023, we made the bittersweet but intentional decision to move back in with our families. It was a temporary sacrifice for a long-term goal of building a life together. Distance wasn’t always easy, but it gave us something else: adventures between Illinois and Washington. We learned about each other’s hometowns, met each other's families, found new places to love, made road trips across America, and found joy in the in-between. Then, one ordinary morning in Chicago, Viktor got down on one knee. CJ must have blacked out because she doesn't remember much beyond nodding aggressively through tears BEFORE Viktor could even finish the sentence, “Will you marry—?” *sobs in Tagalog* (Spoiler alert: She said yes.)
And now here we are! With a brand new wedding website, ready to flex and organize a day that celebrates our love and commitment with God at the center of it all. We're beyond excited that we get to spend one unforgettable day with the people who mean the most to us all in one place. We hope you’ll join us on a beautiful island, surrounded by palm trees, the ocean breeze, joy, and really good vibes (mmm yesss can you imagine!?). We’ve got an epic day planned that’ll be well worth the trip. We hope to spend the special day full of love, laughter, and celebration. Thanks for being here. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.
Please let us know if you plan to attend.
